Lantern Parade
We are very pleased to welcome back Yeovil's Lantern Parade after hosting a virtual parade in 2020 during the pandemic.
This year we are moving the Lantern Parade to later in the Christmas season to allow more space in the town centre for people to gather safely. The Christmas Light Switch On will take place on 19th November, details can be found here.
The Lantern Parade will gather outside St John's Church at 5:30 pm before heading off around the town. This year the Parade will be led by LED Mariposa Stilt Walkers.
As usual, the Mayor will be watching the proceedings and judging the top 3 Lanterns, who will each win a prize. The winners will be announced at the end of the parade.
If you want to take part in the Parade, Love Yeovil will be running free lantern making workshops where you can come and make your own lantern. We shall also be giving away 100 free lantern making kits so if you can't attend a workshop you can make one at home. More details of the workshops can be found here.
The timetable for the parade is as follows:
5:30 pm - Gathering of Lanterns for the parade outside St John's Church
6:00 pm - Lantern Parade sets off from outside St John's Church
6:30 pm - Lantern Parade to finish and winners to be announced
In accordance to the latest government guidance, we ask that all visitors wear face coverings and keep socially distant to help protect others from Covid-19.
