Lantern Parade, 16:30-17:30

Create and bring along your own lantern and light up the darkening park, in a lantern parade led by the drumming workshop!

Wassail Ceremony, 17:30-18:30

Drive all evil spirits away from the Community Orchard, and sing songs of celebration to the oldest apple tree in the park!

Useful information

The 15th of February may well be one of the coldest days of the year, so dress warm and wear appropriate footwear for a woodland walk.
Many of the lanterns will be made in school workshops before the event, but anyone can make a lantern at home and bring it along, just make sure you’re using electric LED lights in the lantern, not candles.

Public toilets are situated at Petters Way carpark, BA20 1UN, about a 10-minute walk from the orchard. If you have not been to Penn Hill Community Orchard before, don’t worry: we will have stewards at Petters Way Carpark. This is the most convenient parking for the event.

This event is suitable for pushchairs, but please be aware that the access slopes are steep, albeit tarmacked.

This event has been put together by the Yeovil Country Park ranger team, Yeovil Art Space and Love Yeovil. To learn more about these organisations, please see their web pages: https://yeovilartspace.uk/ and https://www.loveyeovil.com/

The event is free to attend, but not all workshops are free of charge. Please bring cash with you on the day.

We’re so excited about this event, we can’t wait to see you there!
