Towards the End: Exploring Mortality
About Towards the End: Exploring Mortality
A panel of invited guest speakers will discuss the biggest of big questions... Why do we die? Is there anything afterwards? Can I face my own death well? How do I find hope?
The panel of guests will be made up of professionals who deal with or think about death as part of their work. So far, we have confirmed participation from: - a Chaplain, a Funeral Director, a Mythologist, a Hospice Care Professional moderated by a Philosopher.
We have selected guests from a range of experiences and perspectives and anticipate a lively discussion.
About the Death Positive Library Service: -
Based on a primary model from Redbridge, Kirklees and Newcastle libraries, we will be using libraries as safe and trusted spaces to start supportive conversations about death, dying and loss. We are also looking to host death focused support groups as well as projects with local artists which will focus on how we approach death, and how those left behind can manage the myriad of emotions once someone they love has passed away. The project will be primarily based within Burnham-On-Sea, Frome, Wellington and Yeovil libraries initially, with the aim to expand it out across the county over time. 0
All books within the collection are available to reserve and collect from any library in the county.
The curated collection - which launched a little over a year ago - has been very well received and already proved to be a useful resource.
