Ham Hill Dog Show goes Virtual in 2020

Celebrating the wonderful diversity of dogs living in our community, who invariably give their families unconditional love and companionship (not to mention exercise!), has always been the ethos of the Ham Hill Country Park Fun Dog Show and this year we are determined to continue to do so, despite the difficulties of organising an event this year.
This year the Ham Hill dog show goes online! This means that, for this year at least, dog owners can enjoy the delights of the show from the comfort of their home.
Entries are now open on the ‘Ham Hill Country Park Fun Dog Show’ Facebook page. All of the details on how to enter are on the Facebook page.
There are 15 fun classes to choose from, giving plenty of choice for all ages, sizes and breeds of dogs. Entry costs just £1 per photograph and you can enter as many classes as you like. Rosettes will be awarded for places 1-6 in each class, along with special rosettes and gold certificates.
The show is now open for entries and will close at midnight on the 5th August 2020. Winners will be announced on Sunday 9th August 2020 – the date originally pencilled on the calendar for our event. So dig through your photos or get out your camera and get taking pictures - we’d love to celebrate the dogs you are all so proud of and, who knows, that photo of your beloved dog could be a winner!
Event organiser Donna McNeill, said: “'We are very excited to be bringing the Ham Hill Dog Show online this year so we can continue to support our fabulous charities. We have had some beautiful photos entered so far and are looking forward to seeing lots more dashing dogs entering over the next couple of weeks.”
Countryside Manager Rachael Whaites, added: “We are delighted that Sarah and Donna have taken on the challenge to host the Ham Hill Dog Show in such tricky circumstances. It will really help to lift people’s spirits and celebrate their loyal companions who have helped many people get through these difficult times.”
Councillor Mike Best, portfolio holder for Health & Well-Being, added: “This event has always been really well supported and it would have been a shame not to hold it, so holding it online and still being able to raise fund for worthy causes is the next best thing.”
As in previous years, this event has been supported by a number of generous local businesses and individuals to whom we remain incredibly grateful including Dogs at Donyatt, the Prince of Wales pub, the Community Shop at Norton sub Hamdon and Tammy Smith. Once again, we will be raising much needed funds for two local charities: Ferne Animal Sanctuary, who have been rescuing and re-homing animals for over 80 years, and The Friends of Ham Hill – a group dedicated to helping maintain and improve this beautiful part of our landscape.
