Ham Hill Dog Show returns this summer
Released On 17th Aug 2021
Last year may well be remembered as a 'virtual' year – it was how we communicated with our friends and family, how many of us did our shopping and indeed how we held the last Ham Hill Dog Show.
But this year we are delighted to announce that on Sunday 22 August the event will once again be returning to Ham Hill Country Park, with the proceeds being split between two local charities: Ferne Animal Sanctuary and The Friends of Ham Hill.
Organiser Donna McNeil, said: “It has always been the intention that this event is a celebration of the close bond that exist between a pet dog and its owner or human family.
“Ham Hill Country Park is used by many dog owners in the local community and we know that so lots of people are extremely proud of their dogs and welcome the opportunity to come together with other dog owners to enjoy a day filled with fresh air and fun.
“The Country Park is stunningly beautiful and we are extremely lucky to be able to hold this event in such amazing surroundings. We liaise carefully with the Rangers at Ham Hill to ensure the event is suitably timed so that ground nesting birds on the site have fledged and it fits in with the careful management of this grassland area.”
Councillor Mike Best, portfolio holder for Health & Well-Being, added: “It’s fantastic that the Ham Hill Dog Show is returning to familiar grounds and being hosted in person and dog this year after being held virtually last year. Not only is it a great event for anyone and everyone, but it is also a great way to raise funds for two local charities, so hopefully the organisers and Rangers will see lots of people and pooches on the 22nd.”
So if you want to enjoy a great day out, why not come and join us? The main show ring will hold multiple classes so dogs of all shapes and sizes will be able to participate. The gates open to allow dogs to register for their chosen classes from 10am, with judging beginning at 10.30am. The show has received fantastic support from a number of generous class sponsors, to whom we are eternally grateful and so rosettes will be awarded for dogs placed first to sixth together with prizes for the top three dogs in each class.
We look forward to seeing you (and your dog!) there.
