Last chance to join Yeovil Window Wanderland
Released On 8th Feb 2022
We are entering the final week of Yeovil Window Wanderland 2022! The event runs until Monday 14th February.
There is a lot to see and be inspired by, with over 100 window displays created by households, businesses and artists across the town.
This year, Yeovil Art Space and Love Yeovil are working together to bring this event to the town. With funding support from South Somerset District Council, the event focuses on supporting the wellbeing of Yeovil residents through a series of activities for communities and schools. There are also 3,000 free booklets and a digital art display in town.
During February, you will see a digital window projection at the Nationwide Yeovil Branch. The projection artwork is created by artist Richard Tomlinson and creative educator Natasha Rand, working with students from Buckler's Mead Academy and Young Artist Yeovil (YAY), a group of young creatives aged between 13-17. They have been involved in several workshops to learn green screen filming, and to explore emotional wellbeing, using positive and negative body language, considering issues of isolation and the joy of being together. The projection is on display Monday to Saturday from 5.30 - 8 pm throughout February.
We are also excited to announce the release of our new Creativity for Wellbeing Activity Booklet!
Designed and illustrated by artist Rachel Akerman, the booklet contains creative activities created by artists Natasha Rand, Richard Tomlinson and Rachel Akerman including making window displays if you are joining the Yeovil Window Wanderland display. Also included are some gentle activities that are easy to do and use easy to find materials throughout the year!
As part of the focus of Yeovil Art Space and Love Yeovil this year to engage the local community through activities that support mental health and general wellbeing, the booklet also contains helpful guidance and links to get people through this tough time.
The booklet is FREE as a limited run of 3,000 and is available now. You can pick your copy up from Yeovil Art Space, as well as Ninesprings Cafe and Co-Op at Stiby Rd, St. Michaels Avenue and Mudford Rd.
Anyone can join Yeovil Window Wanderland, creating your window display any time of the year! If you fancy checking out some amazing displays now, follow the online map on the website or check out the sharing on social media:
