All businesses with an interest in attracting visitors are welcome to attend the morning event to pick up their leaflet stock for the coming season and meet representatives from the attractions.

Over 25 Somerset businesses will be exhibiting, including Fleet Air Arm Museum, Haynes International Motor Museum, Cary Alpacas and Parrett Trail Bikes. The Somerset and Dorset National Garden Scheme will be in attendance with their popular Yellow Books plus representatives from some market towns with be there with local walking guides.

COVID-19 precautions will be place including a one way system, distanced stands, test and trace check in, regular cleaning of communal areas and controlling the number of people in each location.

Councillor John Clark, portfolio holder for Economic Development for South Somerset District Council said: “This event is a great way to kick start what will be an incredibly important season. An exciting selection of businesses have already signed up and there’s always a great atmosphere where likeminded businesses have the opportunity to get together in one place. We’re delighted that one of our key South Somerset attractions is hosting us and although the event will be slightly different this year, we still think it will be a valuable opportunity to network and exchange details about our fabulous destination”

Making up 80% of the UK’s visitor economy, English tourism in 2019 generated over £100 billion a year and supported 2.6 million jobs and is a major employer of school leavers and young people, as well as an incubator for entrepreneurs and innovation. In South Somerset, tourism is one of the major employment opportunities and hugely important in helping to ensure we live in a vibrant and varied environment.
