Yeovil Town Centre Transformation Consultation: A Collaborative Endeavour

In a collaborative effort, Love Yeovil CIC and Yeovil & District Chamber CIC hosted a dynamic Business Open Day on Tuesday, 22nd August, held at the vibrant Yeovil Art Space located within The Quedam Shopping Centre. This event marked a crucial step towards revitalising the town centre as part of the Refresh Project.
The primary objective of this event was to foster meaningful engagement with local businesses, soliciting their input on enhancing the town centre once the Refresh Project's construction work reaches completion. Notably, attendees had the opportunity to interact with key figures involved in the Refresh Project, including representatives from the Refresh Project Management team, the Refresh construction company, SWH, and Barclays.
The event adopted an open-door approach, encouraging businesses to connect with individuals associated with the Refresh Project, Love Yeovil, and the Yeovil & District Chamber CIC. Participants eagerly discussed plans to shape the town centre's future and gain valuable updates on the Refresh project, as well as insights into forthcoming timelines.
Over 40 representatives from various local businesses attended this pivotal gathering, actively sharing their perspectives on the Refresh Project's impact and offering suggestions for future town centre events and promotions post-refresh.
Lead Member for Economic Development, Planning & Assets, Cllr Ros Wyke acknowledged past delays in the project, while remaining optimistic about the town's future. She stated, "While we've faced some delays, it's crucial to focus on the road ahead. We welcome the collaborative efforts of Love Yeovil and Yeovil & District Chamber CIC in shaping a plan that aligns with the needs of our businesses and visitors. Together, we're poised to create a town centre that thrives and resonates with everyone who calls Yeovil home and those who visit."
Alice Edmonds, Event and Marketing Coordinator at Love Yeovil, who orchestrated the consultation, expressed her delight, saying, "It was heartening to witness such robust participation and feedback. It's evident that Yeovil boasts a thriving business community deeply committed to the town's growth and prosperity."
