Manny Roper, Chairman of the Yeovil in Bloom Steering Group said, "What an achievement for Yeovil and the whole of South Somerset, with many of the towns and villages across the district picking up lots of awards.

"We are extremely proud to win the Abiss Memorial Trophy because a lot of hard work went into creating the display at St Johns Churchyard. We must thank all those who helped. It's been a really difficult summer with the heat we have had, so to continue to make the floral displays look amazing and keep the streets clean and tidy was a massive challenge that has been embraced by South Somerset District Council's Environmental Services team.

"We must also thank the people of Yeovil who really get behind In Bloom each year, endorsing what we do and supporting the floral displays on show."

David Recardo, Mayor of Yeovil added, "I was delighted to host the South West In Bloom Presentations at Westlands yesterday. It was a complete surprise to win two awards, of course we always hope for Gold, but you never know as the judges may see things we don't, but to pick up the trophy for the "Best Horticultural Display" municipal, was amazing and what made it even more special, I got to present it to our team.

"Personally as Mayor of Yeovil, I would like to thank everyone who contributed, for their hard work our valued sponsors and all our gardeners around the town. Congratulations everyone."

The Yeovil in Bloom initiative is managed and funded by Yeovil Town Council and delivered with the support of South Somerset District Council.
